Before any significant cleanup or restoration could begin on the Stamford Harbor Lighthouse, a new staircase and exterior landings had to be rebuilt from scratch. The old staircase, along with the upper and lower landings, had deteriorated over the years, creating a major safety hazard and making it impossible for workers and volunteers to safely reach and enter the structure.
Thanks to the skilled team at Blue Flame Fabricators, a beautifully engineered curved steel staircase and new landings were designed and installed. This crucial improvement not only ensures safe access to the lighthouse but also preserves the historical integrity of the structure.
In addition to the staircase, a durable steel ladder was installed below the waterline, allowing safe access at any tide height and further enhancing safety during ongoing restoration work.
This milestone has paved the way for the next phases of the project, including the cleanup and removal of debris, reinforcing the caisson, and restoring the canopy.
The community’s support has been instrumental in reaching this milestone, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we continue our efforts to restore this cherished historical landmark.
